The Quebec Acceptance Certificate (CAQ) is an authorization issued by the Government of Québec allowing a temporary foreign worker to come and work legally in Québec within the framework of the Temporary Foreign Worker Program (PET). For situations where a joint LMIA is required, the CAQ application is presented in conjunction with the LMIA application.
The worker must complete the Temporary Selection Request Form and collect the required documents.
The application must be prepared in accordance with the requirements of the Government of Quebec.
The CAQ request is transmitted at the same time as the Labor Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) application when required. The employer and the worker must provide the necessary information and documents.
After examining the file, the Government of Quebec communicates its decision. If the application is accepted, the worker receives the necessary documents to continue his work permit process with the Government of Canada.
The request is made to the Government of Quebec, as part of the temporary foreign workers program.
For a job requiring a joint LMIA, the request for temporary selection for the CAQ must be submitted with the LMIA application.
Once the CAQ and LMIA have been obtained, the worker can continue his work permit application with the Government of Canada.
Processing times may vary depending on the nature of the file, the necessary authorizations and the volume of requests received. It is recommended to check the official deadlines in force when submitting the application.
